MAKE YOU OWN PILLOWS

Another hot going green practice is instead of buying normal pillow stuffing for making your own pillow, you buy recycled denim jeans to stuff your pillow. Keeping that in mind, we can make our own pillows, without spend the money. If you have fabric from a table cloth that you no longer use that would make a nice pillow, you now have all the materials needed for a pillow. You could use a bunch of different colored shirts and sew them together to make a pillow. The sky is the limit in what fabrics you use or outcome you achieve. Shred some jeans, Cut out your pattern from the fabric and put it all together. You can get really creative with your decorative house pillows, because there is no right or wrong way. Best of all, no one will have the same pillows as you, unless you choose to make them some pillows.

recycled pillows:
1. Remove any buttons from the jeans
2. Shred up jeans so it is mostly threads
3. Draw out the typical square patterns of your pillow or draw out creative patterns for your pillow. (Make sure you have enough fabric to draw out a front and back and all the sides of the pillow)
4. With a sewing machine or a needle and thread start sewing three out of four sides, or if it is an awkward shape, then sew most of it but leave an opening.
5. Stuff the pillow with your shredded jeans
6. Sew up the opening by hand.

Also, you can put sheer fabric over your pillows. I love the two tone look. Sheer makes the pillows look completely different. I do recommend you sew the sheer fabric on before you stuff the pillow. Good luck!
