It's snowing!

It's snowing here in the Tri-state area! I am extremely excited about that. It started last night and is still going strong. It snowed a couple weeks back, but I was on vacation and couldn't enjoy it. Currently in our apartment complex, we have people parked on the roads because they couldn't move their car up the hill to park. What a wonderful Saturday. In a few we will probably see a the little ones from the building going outside to enjoy the snow!

Cardboard TP Ideas

Christmas is almost here. Here is a cool idea for your cardboard TP holders.

A fun way to count down the days until Christmas. Make this advent Christmas tree using toilet tissue or paper towel rolls.
Materials:

•Posterboard or Cardboard
•12 Toilet Paper Rolls
•Paint
•Glue
Instructions:
Cut each toilet paper roll in half so you have 24 circles that are about 2 inches tall. Paint each circle green.

Once the paint is dry, glue them onto the posterboard into the shape of the Christmas tree below.

Once the glue is dry, trim the posterboard around to toilet tissue rolls, into the shape of a Christmas tree. Place a small candy or other treat into each circle. Starting on December 1st, take out one piece of candy or treat per day to help you count down every day until Christmas!

This cool idea can be found here!

Cardboard TP Ideas

Here is a great decorative idea for your thanksgiving day dinner table. This says you need a cardboard paper towel holder, but the TP cardboard holder will work as well. This may be a little too hard for the little ones to do.

Cardboard Tube Pilgrims and Indian

Set up a whole colony of pilgrims and Indians for your Thanksgiving feast.

Supplies

1 Paper towel roll cardboard tube
2 Small feathers
2 Pink miniature pom poms
1 Brown miniature pom poms
13-15 Yellow miniature pom poms
3 Red small pom poms
Acrylic paint: brown, flesh, light brown, white, black and pink
Black fine tip marker
Felt: tan, brown, gray, white, black, orange, peach, and green
Scissors
Hot glue gun
White craft glue
Paintbrush

Patterns (click on Printables)

Instructions

First, cut the paper towel roll into three sections, one for each character and click on printables and print out the patterns.

Pilgrim Man

Paint the top 1/3 of the cardboard tube with flesh colored paint. Use brown paint to add on hair around the back and sides of face. Leave enough room to add facial features later. Let dry before continuing.

Roll up tube in a piece of brown felt. Trim felt to the height of the roll and be sure you have enough to wrap all the way around it as well, overlapping slightly.

Cut the felt strip about 2/3 of the way up for the pilgrim's clothes, leaving the remainder for his hat. Glue the larger brown piece of felt around the tube for his clothes and the smaller section around the top for his hat. Glue seams in the back.

Cut out hat brim from brown felt and hat band from black felt using the patterns. Cut out the buckles from black and white felt according to the pattern. Glue the hand brim around the bottom of the hat and the black band above the brim. Glue the buckle (white first, then black) onto the front of the hat on the band.

Cut out the pilgrim's collar from the white felt using the pattern. Glue around the neckline on top of the brown felt.

Cut out pumpkin and stem from orange and green felt, glue to the front of the pilgrim's body. Cut out 2 hands from peach felt and glue to the front, overlapping the sides of the pumpkin.

Use the handle end of a paint brush dipped in white paint to dot on eyes. Do not add black until white is dry. Use a scruffy paint brush or a roughed up cotton swab to add cheeks using pink paint. Be sure to dab off excess pink paint before applying cheeks (dry application). Glue a miniature pink pom pom on for the nose and use fine tip black marker to add the mouth and eyebrows. Dot on blacks of the eyes.

Pilgrim Woman

Paint the top 1/3 of the cardboard tube with flesh colored paint. Use light brown paint to add on hair around the back and sides of face. Leave enough room to add facial features later. Let dry before continuing.

Roll up tube in a piece of gray felt. Trim felt to 2/3 the height of the roll and be sure you have enough to wrap all the way around it as well, overlapping slightly.

Glue the gray felt around the tube for her clothes, seam should be in the back.

Cut out the pilgrim woman's collar from the white felt using the pattern. Glue around the neckline on top of the gray felt.

Cut a piece of white felt wide enough to cover the top of the tube and hang down about 1" in the back. The shape will resemble a semi-circle, adjust and trim as needed to make her bonnet.

Cut out basket from tan felt and 2 hands from peach felt using pattern. Glue basket to the front of the pilgrim woman and glue hands on, overlapping the sides of the basket. Glue 3 small red pom poms to the top of basket for apples.

Use the handle end of a paint brush dipped in white paint to dot on eyes. Do not add black until white is dry. Use a scruffy paint brush or a roughed up cotton swab to add cheeks using pink paint. Be sure to dab off excess pink paint before applying cheeks (dry application). Glue a miniature pink pom pom on for the nose and use fine tip black marker to add the mouth, eyebrows and eyelashes. Dot on blacks of the eyes.

Indian

Paint the top 1/3 of the cardboard tube with brown paint.

Roll up tube in a piece of tan felt. Trim felt to 2/3 the height of the roll and be sure you have enough to wrap all the way around it as well, overlapping slightly. From the remainder of the felt, cut out a thin strip of tan to use as the headband, set aside for a later step.

Glue the tan felt around the tube for his clothes, seam should be in the back.

Cut a piece of black felt wide enough to cover the top of the tube and long enough to reach the bottom of both sides of the tube. Use hot glue to attach the hair to the top of the tube. Dot a bit of glue at the tops of the sides as well, but not all the way down, just to hold it in place. Cut the hair on both sides into three pieces and braid together. Hot glue the braided ends and glue to the side of the tube.

Glue two feathers to the side of the head, then wrap headband around the head, seam in the back and glue in place.

Cut out the corn husk and leaf from green felt and 2 hands from brown felt using the pattern. Glue the large green husk to the front of the Indian. Glue on two rows of miniature yellow pom poms for the corn kernels, then glue the green leaf at the bottom of the kernels, overlapping them slightly. Glue the hands on, overlapping the corn.

Use the handle end of a paint brush dipped in white paint to dot on eyes. Do not add black until white is dry. Use a scruffy paint brush or a roughed up cotton swab to add cheeks using pink paint. Be sure to dab off excess pink paint before applying cheeks (dry application). Glue a miniature brown pom pom on for the nose and use fine tip black marker to add the mouth and eyebrows. Dot on blacks of the eyes.

Homemade pumpkin decoration

The end of this month is Thankgiving. Here is a cool idea to do with your children. The best part is alot of these items you should have at home.

Materials Needed:

•8 Plastic grocery bags
•Newspaper
•1 Paper towel tube
•Orange paint
•Green paint
•Glue gun
•Paint brush
•Scissors

Instructions:
Cut the paper towel tube to about 5” long. Take about 3 pieces of newspaper, lay them in a single layer, and fold them over until they're about 2” wide by the length of the paper. Glue ends to secure the folded pieces of newspaper. Make about 6 folded strips. Set aside.

Take the bags, at the center of the bottom, and pull through your fingers to make it 'flatter'. Glue each bag, from the center bottom with the handles up, next to each other all the way around the paper towel tube, about 3” from the top. This combination should resemble a pompom.

Begin gluing the strips of newspaper to the tube, starting at about 3” from the top. They should be over the glued ends of the plastic bags. Wrap the strips around the tube, gluing as you go around. When you get to the end of one newspaper strip, add another piece so they are end to end.

Now, pull each bag down by the handles, over the newspaper ‘rib’, to the bottom of the tube and then stuff the handles up into the tube. Repeat this for all of the paper bags. As you pull down more plastic bags, it gets a bit harder to stuff the handles into the tube so Donna suggests using the end of a pen to shove them in.

To finish your grocery bag pumpkin, pinch and slightly fold in the top of the tube with your fingertips. This will be the stem of your pumpkin. Paint the pumpkin (grocery bags) orange. Stain the stem with green paint that has been mixed with water to give it a more realistic look.

Cardboard TP Ideas

It's Sunday again, here is our new Cardboard TP idea.

Thanksgiving Napkin Ring Craft
This makes a good craft for a Thanksgiving party. It's fairly quick to do if you do the first four steps prior to the party. Then let the party-goers glue on their own turkeys, use stickers and sparkles to decorate, and inscribe their names.

Marilyn wrote:
"Here is a suggestion for the napkin rings. Turkey races! Have the kids put a large marble in the TP roll and then they can race their wobblers around the house. It would work great with any kind of napkin ring. We have a lot of fun with this at our house."

Materials:
toilet paper roll,

printer,

piece of paper,

scissors,

glue, and

crayons.
Instructions:
Print out the template of choice.

Colour (where appropriate) and cut out the template pieces.

Glue the rectangular piece onto the tp roll.

Cut the tp roll into 4 pieces along the dotted lines.

Trace four handprints onto coloured construction paper. Glue the turkey body into the center of each and attach to the tp roll pieces.
Alternative Decorating Ideas:

Use stickers, sparkles, sparkle glue, or felt to decorate the napkin ring further.

Use a marker to inscribe the name of the guest on each napkin ring.

Print the black and white template on construction paper. Print a second copy on white paper and mix & match the pieces.

Set your page margins to zero (FILE, PAGE SETUP on most browsers) so the templates print out fully.

Close template window after printing to return to this screen.

Templates:
Close the template window after printing to return to this screen.

Set page margins to zero if you have trouble fitting the template on one page (FILE, PAGE SETUP or FILE, PRINTER SETUP in most browsers).

RECYCLE CEREAL BOXES

Many of us eat cereal or have people in our household who eat cereal. Here is an article I found about recycling those boxes.
Enjoy!

Cereal boxes are a great source of cardboard for a whole range of projects, making them too valuable to just stick in the recycling bin. Here are some ideas to get your imagination going on how you can reuse your cereal boxes.

1.Gift Box
Forget about purchasing boxes and bags for packaging presents. Cereal boxes are perfect for many gifts, especially those of the flatter variety like hand-made frames or clothing.

2.A New Wallet
With a few quick cuts and folds, you can have a neat DIY wallet that will last a surprisingly long time. It might be unique, but not the oddest project we've seen!

3.Business Cards
We're always looking for ever greener business cards. For boxes that are blank on the inside (which can be a rare find these days), you can cut pieces to business card size and write, stamp or print your info. Not only is it green, but it's also frugal!

4.A Notebook
Forget expensive moleskins. Make your own cool notebooks with sturdy cereal box cardboard as your cover.

5.Bookmarks
If you're a big reader, cut out strips and add a touch of scrap ribbon and beads, and you have some fun bookmarks.

6.Storage Bins
Thanks to an easy pattern from Urban Nest, you can cut and sew your way to some beautiful fabric-covered storage bins that are as fancy as what you'd find in a store, but a fraction of the cost.

7.Magazine Holders
Simply slice the top and cut diagonally from one top corner to the middle of the opposite side, and your magazines will finally stay upright on your bookshelf.

8.Postcards
Sending an unexpected note to someone with the logo of a cereal box on one side can be a fun way to say hello. Just be sure you make it standard postcard size, since the post office can get picky.

Bonus: Don't forget that the cereal bag can be reused too. It's perfect for reusing as a piece of wax paper for cooking or craft projects.

FREE TOTE BAG

Tote Bag In 5 Diffrent Colors You chose!

We are a group of individuals determined to make the world we all share and live in a better place. One major issue with this society is not reusing plastic bags, when shopping. I understand that this is hard to get into the habit of doing, but if everyone even used 1-2 bags less, that would save us billions of plastic bags internationally. Our goal is not to convert everyone to use only plastic bags. That is simply unrealistic. Instead bring a reusable grocery bag/tote with you next time you go shopping. Use that instead of a plastic bag. If everyone uses one less plastic bag, that is ALOT of plastic bags! Come on people lets do this. Spread the Word. We are giving away (hopefully) millions of reusable grocery bags for free! These bags are completely new and never taken out of their package from the manufacturer. Available in 5 different colors for you to choose.

Fill out the form below to request a 100% Free, Reusable grocery tote. Please know that this offer is good while supplies last. If you request one, you must use it. (This is why we are doing this) Don't let it sit around.

You will also be sent a bumper sticker that says "I helped save the environment" (Valid while supplies last)

Cardboard TP Ideas

This weeks cool TP cardboard idea is pretend binoculars. This is a great project to do with the little ones.

Follow these directions and find out how to make pretend binoculars using bathroom tissue rolls.
Materials Needed:

•2 Cardboard Toilet Paper Rolls
•Small Piece of Lightweight Cardboard (From a Cereal Box, Etc.)
•Paint
•School Glue
•Scissors
Instructions:
Paint both cardboard toilet paper rolls. Set them aside to dry.

Cut a piece of lightweight cardboard2" x 6". Paint it and set it aside to dry.

Once all of the paint is dry, place a line of glue down both long ends of the 2" x 6" piece of cardboard. Set the toilet paper rolls down on the glue, let the glue dry.

Technically now, your binoculars are done. If you like, you can add some embellishments to your binoculars such as beads, feathers, or sequins. Another item you can add if you like is a strap. Simply tape of glue a piece of yarn or string onto your binoculars so you can wear them around your neck.

Cardboard TP Ideas

It's sunday!!! So here is our cool idea of the week. Another cool halloween or anytime idea.

Hand Print Spider Craft

You can make a variety of spiders using these directions, a toilet paper roll, and hand prints. Bugs can be hung from the ceiling on a string or piece of thread or taped to the wall to look like they are crawling.

•Age Guideline: 3 Years and Up
•Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

•Toilet Tissue Roll
•Construction Paper
•Wiggle Eyes
•Pen or Pencil
•Paint
•Stapler
•Craft Glue
•Paint Brush
•Scissors
Instructions:
Start out by stapling both ends of the toilet tissue roll closed. Paint the toilet tissue roll black or whatever color you want your bug to be as this will be the bug's body.

While the paint is drying, trace both hands onto construction paper. Cut out the hand prints, cutting off the thumbs so there will be just the four fingers. These will be the spider's legs.

Glue each hand to the back of the toilet paper roll so there are four legs on each side of the body. Curl the bug's legs under a little bit to give them a little bit of shape.

You can now glue on wiggle eyes and also use scraps of construction paper to make a mouth, teeth or fangs, and any other details you want!

FREE COFFEE FROM 7-ELEVEN

Free coffee from 7-Eleven every day through 10-31-2009
I didn't see this when searching for it, but I think this has been available since 10/07.

7-Eleven has a lame dating game at the711club.com to "wake up to a hot Brazilian" ... coffee. At the end of the dating game, however, you get this:
http://www.the711club.com/coupons/coupon.pdf

Here's the text of the coupon:
FREE GRATIS
Hot Beverage
Good for one 12-oz. coffee,
cappuccino, hot chocolate or tea.
Excludes espresso-based products. Offer good at participating
US 7-Eleven stores. Limit one coupon per customer per day.
Offer not valid with any other coupon or discount. No cash value.
Copies or reproduction by any means
is prohibited and shall void the coupon.

Now, I don't know how reproduction of a .PDF coupon voids anything, but there ya go. It says right on it that you can get a free one every day.

So I just went and tried it. It scanned in perfectly, and then the manager proceeded to fight with me for five minutes because it's printed. He said that he's worked there for 9 years and never had a printed coupon before. But viral marketing didn't exist 9 years ago. Anyway, he finally gave in saying, "Today only," but I think I'll fight with him tomorrow, too, because he pisses me off. I'm going to bring my laptop in and make him scan that since he won't accept a printed coupon.

Cardboard TP Ideas

This may sound a little weird. I was checking the guest bathroom to see if I need to replace the toilet paper, and I found an empty cardboard tp holder. I remember as a child recycling them for an art project. I started to think there are probably a million projects I can do with the TP holder. So every Sunday for the next few weeks I will try to post 1 new idea for the TP holder. If you have one you would like to share, please feel free to leave a comment and I will be glad to post it the following week. These ideas can work for the cardboard paper towel holders as well. They may need to be cut down to the TP holder size to work for the projects.

Now, Since Halloween is coming up, I figured this weeks idea should be related to halloween.

Halloween Suprise Tubes

Materials Needed:

•Toilet paper roll
•Halloween printed fabric
•Ribbon
•Glue
•Treats (see Suggestions below)

Instructions:
Cut a piece of fabric big enough to cover the toilet paper roll and have a couple of inches hanging over each end of the tube. Wrap the Halloween fabric around the toilet paper roll and glue in place. Tie (in a bow) one overhung end of the fabric with 3 - 4 different colored ribbons. Fill the fabric covered tube with trinkets, candy, and confetti. Tie the open end up with the ribbons. Place sticker on the tube.

You can put anything in these. When I made them last year for my son to hand out to his classmated for halloween, they loved them!!!

This idea was found Here!

Note: These also can work great for easter, check here!

scariest Halloween costume ever

Want to have the scariest Halloween costume ever, start some buzz handing out leaflets at school or around town, or just take some sweet Facebook pics and get the word out about McDonald's cruel treatment of chickens? You've come to the right place!

Every year, millions of chickens are raised and killed for McDonald's restaurants. Many of these birds suffer broken legs and wings and other serious injuries. Dollar store Deals

I was online checking out other blogs, and I remembered the 99 cent store cookstore. I checkout some of the recipes and figured hm... let me check out the dollar store. I thought I would be brave enough to buy unknown name brands, but I really wasn't. I did however find some good deals that I figured I would share. In the food section I found Betty Crocker tuna helper for $1.00. When on sale, the cheapest I found the Betty Crocker tuna helper was for $2.00. So I paid half for the same thing. I bought 3 and saved $3.00. Also, I found Betty Crocker mashed potatoes. Again another item I find at it's cheapest for $2.00 a box. I bought two. They only had two of the four flavors the grocery store had but still, it is only a dollar. I bought two of the butter and herb mashed potatoes, saving another 2 bucks. While looking at the food options, I was feeling sloppy joes for dinner. I found the Del monte sloppy joe sauce for a $1.00. I haven't been able to find it cheaper then that at the grocery store. Also, they had tons of Del monte fruits some were 2 for a $1.00. The sale price for these at the grocery store is $1.00 each.

I paid $7ish instead of $14, half :-D

CVS Deals

So yesterday I decided to check out CVS. They had all summer clearance for 75% off.

I got 2 tote bags for $3.75 each, originally $14.99
One is green and blue with butterflies on it.
The other is pinks and purples, with flowers and came with a wallet.

Also, I got a bag of mixed plastic-ware for $0.50 originally $1.99
and a table cloth also for $0.50 originally $1.99
I got some luau decorations before and didn't get these two items.
So the lime green plastic-ware and table cloth matches perfectly.

So I got $34 dollars worth $8.99
I had a gift card for $3.49
so my out of pocket expense was $5.50

They had other cool things like water guns, bubbles, party stuff, etc. Be sure to check your local CVS for great deals like these.

Which is better, wholesale or retail?

I have been shopping a lot, and trying to find deals for a group of orphans we are trying to get ready for school. My father told me he would take me to get some items whole sale. Normally, my guess would be wholesale is cheaper, but today I proved that theory wrong. The boys need boxers and socks, aside from many other things. I went to a wholesale place today. The boxers did turn out cheaper at $12.00 a dozen. At walmart the cheapest boxers were 3 for $5.00. Now at walmart you could decide to go with boxer briefs and get 9 pairs for $5.00 make it cheaper to buy at walmart, but if boxers are what you want, then it is cheaper to go wholesale/ buy bulk.

Now the socks. One wholesale place was selling the socks for $3.95 a dozen, which I thought was amazing. It is the cheapest, but the problem was they didn't have all the sizes I needed. I went to another wholesale place and found the socks for $6.00 a dozen. Now that doesn't sound too bad, $0.50 a piece. I went to walmart later and I found that I could get 10 pairs for $4.00 make it once again cheaper to go to walmart for the children. It was cheaper to go to a wholesale place to get the socks for adults. Now the socks I got are nice socks, champion brand. If we were looking at the brand, then wholesale is the place to go, because I couldn't get that brand for that cheap.

Basically, if looking at deals, couponing and shopping frugal is how you do things, wholesale really isn't neccesary to get the best deal. Keep in mind, that I went to wholesale places in a big city, making their overhead cost a lot higher then some of the other wholesale places. This just means I may have paid more due to to them having to charge more to stay in business.

GRR... CVS

I need a moment to vent. I went to CVS, I don't necessarily go in to CVS often. I had a few rainchecks I wanted to use. One raincheck is for a 24 pack of regular #2 pencils that are $2.79 a pack. The sale price was $1.99 with a $1.99 extra bucks. Well today the pencils are on sale for $1.50. So as the woman is explaining this to me, I was thinking "ok, what is the problem?" So she called a manager over who told me I can't use the raincheck today but I can get the pencils for the sale price. I explained all I wanted to do was get the raincheck and that I don't care about the sale price. He said he could not go back in the system and change the price because it is on sale cheaper then the cost of the raincheck. So I asked him if I could at least get the extra bucks for $1.50 instead of $1.99 and he said there is nothing he can do and walked away from me. How rude! So as he was walking away I told him I need these items for a charity, we are getting school supplies for local orphans and I don't have time to wait until the sale price match the one on the raincheck. So now I am not sure what to do. I really need the pencils for the orphans since we are going to be putting together the book bags next week and the following week the kids start school. I am extremely pissed off at how rude the manager was and how he just walked away. And it just doesn't make any sense to me why if I want to pay more for a stupid item why they can't make it happen. I had a $1.99 extra bucks that I wanted to use. So now is this worth calling the CVS customer service line? I really don't feel like I want to make trouble, but it is stupid that I couldn't walk out with the pencils.

Any suggestions are greaty appreciated. If you have any similar storiees you would like to share, please feel free. Thanks!

Target deals

I went to target to see what kind of school supplies are on sale. This is what I found. Crayola 10 pack markers are on sale for $1.00 each. They are the not the normal colors, but rather tropical colors. The 2 packs of target brand glue were $0.22 cents each. The crayola 24 pack of crayons are $0.25 cents. If you want to save a few mores cents the 24 pack of the roseart crayons are $0.20 cents. Elmers glue is $0.25. Loose paper is $0.75. They had nice bookbags for $6-8.00.

Claire's Deals

I was at the mall on Sunday. I stopped by claire's because I love the 10 for $10 deals on accessories. While I was there I found two pairs of little kid shoes in the bin. I was told by one associate that they are part of the 10 for $10 deal. I was shocked but I took them because we have some orphans in the community that most likely can benefit from them. While there I got a few pairs of accessories for me. I also got 2 packs of tights for the orphans to wear with the adorable shoes plus other cool items. When I got up to the register a different woman told me that these shoes are 2 for $10.00 I went to check the wall but they weren't any shoes on that wall, only sandals. I went back to find the other woman and she gave them to me for a dollar each. I'll try to take some pictures of the awesome shoes.

RITE AID REBATES

Rite aid has this awesome rebate plan that I would like to share with you. Every weekend there are a few items that are advertised for free after rebates. Also there are items that are just a lot cheaper with the rebate. The rebates are not your normal rebates. You don't have to fill out a form, put it in an envelope and waste a stamp. It is a lot simpler.

At the end of every month, (you have a whole month) go on the website and put all the items you purchased on your account to submit for a rebate check. It is great because it just uses your receipt number to locate your purchase. Once you have all your receipts showing you submit your request for a single rebate check. The best part is you get one check with the monthly total without mailing supplies for every request.

You do have to submit all the receipts at once. You can add receipts as you get them, but not submit the request. Let me explain this. From March 1-31 you can submit all the rebates from Feb 1-28. You can only submit one time so you need make sure you have all the receipts attached to the online request before submitting that request. Once you have submitted you are no longer allowed to submit a request for Feb.

Once you get online to submit your first rebate you will see what I mean. However if you need me to clarify how this works, please comment on this post or contact me privately and I will be glad to help.

Staples

I stopped by staples to see if there are any good deals. I did find one good deal. All wide ruled and college ruled filler paper (loose paper) are a penny each. There is a limit of 5 packs. I paid $0.05 for 5 packs of paper, sweet. I wouldn't necessarily drive over to staples if it is out of your way, because there isn't that many good deals, but if you are around a staples, I would hit them up for the paper.

old navy

Yesterday, I did my typical clearance shopping. I went to old navy, and they had tons of clothing for $5.00. I bought a pink hoodie and a fusha colored top for $10.00 The total savings was $20ish. Old navy has already cheap prices, but can't complain about the discount.

my cell phone insurance

Normally I am not a big fan of paying for cell phone insurance but this time it has been a life saver. I have a bad habit of dropping my phone. I have always purchased tough looking flip phones just because I know I am going to keep dropping it, and most of my phones have lasted for years. This year my husband thought it would be nice to get me the palm pre. I absolutely love the palm pre, just one problem. Every time I drop it something super bad happens to the phone. Now I have been extremely careful with this phone because I know it can't handle the abuse I would normally put a phone through. The first time I dropped the phone, the slidder messed up. I also cracked the top of the screen. When I took it to the store, they said they would replace it for me, because of my lovely insurance. When I got it back, the speaker and mic no longer worked :-(. I got the phone replaced. The new phone I have gave me issues with the speaker, I couldn't use the loud speaker so while talking on the phone one day I decided I would juggle the phone on my shoulder while holding a lot of stuff, the phone took a nice dive to the concrete floor. Once again cracked the screen a little. Also, it messed up the phone, it won't hold a charge, however I could talk on speaker after the fall, something I couldn't do before. I went back to the store, again they said I would fix it. I bought the insurance for incase i drop it, it gets stolen, or any other issues that may happen that just aren't normal wear and tear. They tried to sell me an insurance for normal wear and tear. For anyone considering that, don't! Your phones come with a 1 year manufactor warrenty for normal wear and tear. Most phone companies let you get the insurance later on in life, like after the year if you choose to. But no need to pay a few bucks a month for something that is already covered. Anyways, that is my two cents for the day. Anyone have any good/bad experience with your phones/phone insurance/ cell phone companies?

take care!

My CVS deals

Yesterday I went to CVS last night and if you didn't know, there was a rebate on the school supplies yesterday. The pencils, loose paper, binders, pens and little notebooks are all free after rebate. I spent 2 bucks yesterday plus the tax and I got 2 packs of lose paper, two little notebooks, two packs of pens. Plus I got a raincheck on the pencils and the binders. Not a bad deal. Altho I don't need school supplies, I know quite a few people who can use them.

Dollar store parties

When throwing a party remember the dollar tree for all your party needs. With a little creativity you can have an awesome party. Yesterday I threw a party for my cousin. I spent $12 on all supplies necessary for a party (plates, utensils, cups, decor, table cover, etc) I mixed and matched the blue and yellow party stuff to get a nice summer, beachy look. everyone brought food and dessert so I was basically only responsible for drinks and snacks. I bought luau themed party supplies once before. At walmart the items were between $2.50 to $5.00. I went to the dollar store and got everything I nedded for the party and also luau themed for about $10ish. So next time you throw a party make the dollar store your firsy stop.

decluttering my home

So I know I haven't much frugal deals to share with you guys. I have been extremely busy trying to adjust to being jobless. It seems like life is more busy now that I have more time to fill with stuff to do. I honestly thought I would have more time for frugal shopping, and unfortunately, maybe fortunately, I haven't been doing any shopping except for what I need per meal. I have been however going through my apartment trying to get rid of stuff I don't need. (haha most of the items being free things I have collected through the past 3 years of marriage) I am glad to be getting rid of a lot of stuff since our apartment is starting to look cluttered, and I really don't like the cluttered look. I will be freecycling or giving away all the items I no longer want. Thus far I have taken out 20ish books from on top of the bookcase to get rid of. These are antique books, I love the look of antique books in a home. I have used all the ones I want and these just sat there. Now they will go to a home who can use them/ or read them since I never will. Also, a candle chandlier set, plastic curtain rings, and magazines have been removed from my cluttered apartment. I will continue to update you on my mission to decluttering.
