Grocery shopping

In attempts to get back on the savings wagon, I have switched my grocery store to shop rite instead of Giant. Besides the larger selection, prices are so much better. I used to have a goal which was achieved prior to pregnancy of $50 a week. When cravings hit, my budget was never kept and here we are today. Also, sending your husband to the grocery store when you need something always equals OVERSPENDING. I am going to try to stay within my budget. Now just as a fyi, I don't usually go looking for coupons, nor do I have a printer. I would like to see how a family of 3 can stay at around $50 a week. Eventually I will implement the couponing but for now lets see how well we do..

Here is what I spent on 2/12 for groceries. I don't have all the extra recipts for my husbands trips but at least it is a starting point for me.

On sale savings: $11.00
Manufactor Coupon: $ 0.78
Store Coupon: $ 0.47
Total Savings $12.25

Just to let you know the coupons where actually receieved when I swiped my shoprite savings card. I didn't have any coupons on hand. I really like shop rite because every ad has coupons, so that will help in the future. The only left is my reusable bag savings, this shopping trip I received $0.15.

Baby Ralph Lauren Deal

I was shopping at Macy's, my favorite place for baby clothes and I cam across a Boys Ralph Lauren Polo winter jacket on the clearance rack. I went up to the Register to see how much it was on clearance for $11.98. After coupon the final total was $10.16
I don't know if its me, but I didn't realize that a ralph Lauren Jacket for babies would be soo expensive. As I was leave I noticed the orginal price of the jacket was $165.00 I walked out with a $155.00 savings!

Macy's deals

Friday I was at the mall with a friend and stopped by Macy's. I normally don't even bother with name brand items for my infant because they tend to be to pricy. But I decided to humor myself and this is what I found.

Marshalls shopping

One of the many best places to shop is Marshalls. I don't usually go there because I didn't know there was one near me. Today I was at a shopping center for something specific and passed a Marshalls. Although I was kind of in a rush I did find baby deals. My baby's new sippy cup.


This is the exact one I got my son for $3.99. The cheapest I found this one online is $36.95. I did find other colors as cheap as $5.99 online, not including shipping.

I also bought my son socks and a wall decor. I will share details on the wall decor later.

Book club

For as long as I could remember, I've always wanted to be in a book club. My friend started a book club a few months ago and today was the first day I got to attend a meeting. Great food, great company and a nice discussion. Well every meeting someone wins the book that will be read for the following meeting. Today I won the copy of the book this month. How lucky am I?

Everytime I sit down to write someone for this blog, something happens! Between husband, baby and life, I am not sure where all the time goes. I stopped at walmart the other day to see what kind of deals I could find. I found a huge toy selection that was 50%. I guess it is the christmas leftovers but these were not christmas toys. I didn't find anything my son would enjoy for a few years except a sing a ma jig toy.



Also, if you like eating candy canes, they are marked down to $0.10 a box.

Target deals

Yesterday I went to target to raid the sad Christmas clearance section which was now one aisle. To my surprise I found tons of bags of red stuff oreos. The bags said same great taste, new look. I priced checked them and they were on clearance for $0.89!! Even on sale they are usually $2.50

Michaels deals

Today I went to Michael's for the first time in a while. I have to say the deals are pretty good. All christmas items are 70% off. I got a few baking items. To my suprise I found ghirardelli baking chocolates with the clearance items.
