my almost free lamps!

I got these two matching lamps with shades for free on freecycle. I didn't like how they looked so I decided to spray paint them.



The one on the left is the one I had started to spray paint before remembering to take a picture. The one on the right is the orginal look. I will show you a picture of the final look later. I am going to use the lampshades that came with it until I find better ones.

what a crazy weekend! On Saturday day I threw a bridal shower from my cousin. Once the party was over we headed to MA. On Sunday we went to a friends wedding. I made my first bouquet of flowers for the bride. It was exciting, as soon as my hubby loads the pics, I will show you. Then drove back home last night. Today my family left our apartment and in a few tons of friends are coming over dinner. :-) I love keeping busy.

Anyways, back to the frugal stuff. Get a free pack of ear plugs. If you hate noise while you are trying to sleep, like me, then this is for you.

Dollar Tree

I have talked to alot of people last Sunday who all think that dollar tree isn't a great place to shop. They assume that everything is cheap quality and will break when you touch it. I am a big fan of the dollar tree. I have found so many items over the past year that are the same as the "as seen on tv" brand items for a dollar. I never have to pay full price for items because I know I will eventually find it at the dollar store.

I am throwing a bridal shower for my cousin on Saturday. As I was planning the party I decided I would check the dollar store for items. I got some boxes similar to these but actually look a lot better.

Also, I bought plates, napkins, cups silver and white with petal design for $1.00 each. There are tons of decorations as well. I will try to add pictures as I am putting up the decorations tomorrow.

I will be going back tomorrow to get some balloons for the party. But whenever you think about throwing a party, check out the dollar store first. It is amazing how much money you can save if you go there first!

a frugal tip

I was watching hgtv the other, dreaming of what it would be like to own a house, and going crazy decorating, oh well. So they were showing a neat trick to get rid of crayon marks on the wall, a cheaper alternative to repainting. All you will need is toothpaste and a normal sponge. They put the toothpaste on the sponge and the crayon marks came off after a tad bit of scrubbing. Just don't tell you children how easy it is to remove their art off the wall.

After a few pep talks and people telling me I should keep blogging I have decided to come back to the blog world. I was reminded why I was doing the blog and for that reason I should continue. I was happy to see a comment after my previous post. I will in a few weeks start post more regularly.
