Cardboard TP Ideas

This may sound a little weird. I was checking the guest bathroom to see if I need to replace the toilet paper, and I found an empty cardboard tp holder. I remember as a child recycling them for an art project. I started to think there are probably a million projects I can do with the TP holder. So every Sunday for the next few weeks I will try to post 1 new idea for the TP holder. If you have one you would like to share, please feel free to leave a comment and I will be glad to post it the following week. These ideas can work for the cardboard paper towel holders as well. They may need to be cut down to the TP holder size to work for the projects.

Now, Since Halloween is coming up, I figured this weeks idea should be related to halloween.

Halloween Suprise Tubes

Materials Needed:

•Toilet paper roll
•Halloween printed fabric
•Ribbon
•Glue
•Treats (see Suggestions below)

Instructions:
Cut a piece of fabric big enough to cover the toilet paper roll and have a couple of inches hanging over each end of the tube. Wrap the Halloween fabric around the toilet paper roll and glue in place. Tie (in a bow) one overhung end of the fabric with 3 - 4 different colored ribbons. Fill the fabric covered tube with trinkets, candy, and confetti. Tie the open end up with the ribbons. Place sticker on the tube.

You can put anything in these. When I made them last year for my son to hand out to his classmated for halloween, they loved them!!!

This idea was found Here!

Note: These also can work great for easter, check here!

CREATIVE WRAPPING 2

Whenever I would get an item that wasn't a perfect square, I would get creative with the wrapping of it. One of my favorite is making my gift look like a piece of candy. Also, whenever I didn't have tape handy, I would use this same method of wrapping. Do you remember the strawberry candy, where it was twisted at the top? This is the same look we are going for.

You will need:

-your gift
-wrapping paper
-yarn or pipe cleaner
-scissors

1. Cut out the wrapping paper need. Leave plenty of space on every part of it.
2. Place gift in the middle of the wrapping paper.
3. Lift up all the sides around it.
4. Twist all the paper together
5. Cut a piece of year or pipe cleaner to any size you please
6. Tie the twisted gift wrap paper.
7. Depending on how big the gift is, leave about 2in - 10 in of paper hanging on the edges (this is really based on your preference.)
8. Any excess paper over 2in-10 in, cut it off.
9. Fix paper until satisfied with the final look.

GIFT WRAPPING SUPPLIES

The best time to buy gift wrapping supplies is in January. I am sure you are thinking duh, that is obvious, but only if you want to buy Christmas themed gift wrap. But that isn't true. There are many items that are non-Christmas, non-winter, floating around the stores. You just have to think a little creatively to make it work. For example, any gift wrap that is a solid, you can use year around. Even it if is solid red or green. The bow or other accessories you use to decorate your gift can make it look Christmas like or not. Also, snow flakes, work for the whole winter, not just Christmas. I have found during the past, there are many Disney wrapping items but not all of them are Christmas theme. You can save those as well.

Bows: Bows may look Christmas like but when you add the right paper, they are no longer Christmas like. I love buying bows in Jan. because I get really nice ones for $0.10-$0.25 when they were selling them for $1.00-$5.00.

Ribbon: There is so much ribbon that is sold for a few cents as well. You can make your own bows with the ribbon. You can also add a professional look to your gift. Again, they might be Christmas colored, but you can dress it up with the right wrapping paper and bow, and it look normal.

I found this bow one year that was purple with gold trim. The way it was decorated, it was obvious that it was meant for Christmas. Then in the spring, I found a wrapping paper, that was spring themed but had the same two colors in it. It look like i had bought the paper and bow together. They matched perfectly and were great for a spring birthday or even a graduation gift.

I found this one ribbon, the thick kind, that was brown with silver trim for $0.10. This did not look Christmas like at all. I matched that up with a silver bag and made a bow out of it. The bow attracted all the attention off my silver Christmas bag that I bought for $0.15. This works great year round even if it uses silver. These are just a few examples of how you can use cheap clearance gift wrap from Christmas all year round.
